GM Ignition Switch Recall
Automobile accidents happen. But when an accident happens due to a defect in a car – a defect that the manufacturer knew about but did not correct or warn about – the accident is all the more tragic.
There have been nearly 1,400 lawsuits stemming from deaths and injuries related to General Motors’ faulty ignition switches. GM paid $575 million to settle some of those cases, and another $900 million to settle a criminal investigation, because employers knew about the problem a decade before GM began its recall. In 2014 GM recalled approximately 26 million cars and says it has since fixed the problem. While 26 million may seem like a high number, GM was only responsible for 14-percent of all automobile recalls issued that year. That’s a staggering statistic.
Cash Krugler Fredericks has experience handling automobile recall cases that resulted in significant injuries; most recently we helped victims of a KIA recall. Our firm is skilled at representing clients injured in automobile and trucking accidents. Our philosophy is to immediately negotiate with the responsible party’s insurance company to determine whether your claim can be settled for a fair amount. If not, we move swiftly toward trial. Unfortunately, insurance companies often fail to negotiate in good faith with victims until an aggressive and knowledgeable attorney gets involved. Our goal is to quickly demonstrate the cause of any collision and the extent of the damages and losses you and your family have suffered.
Many times, drivers are unaware that their car or tires have been recalled. It’s important to check recent recall information or call your dealer to see if your car falls under any recalls. To look for recent recall information visit: http://www.safercar.gov/CheckForRecalls
